FAQs

What is Shibari?

1

Shibari is a Japanese rope practice that can explore connection, aesthetics, sensation, vulnerability, and communication. For me, rope is not simply about being tied, it is a way of creating a shared experience through touch, movement, tension, trust, and presence.

What do you offer?

2

I offer private rope sessions, beginner-friendly experiences, rope education, and personalized sessions for people who want to explore rope in a safe and intentional environment. Sessions can focus on learning, sensation, connection, aesthetics, or simply experiencing what it feels like to be held by rope.

Do I need any experience with rope?

3

Not at all. You can come with zero experience. I will explain everything you need to know and adapt the session to your comfort level and experience.

4

Do I need to know what I want before a session?

No. You don’t need to arrive with a fully formed idea or a specific scene in mind. We can talk beforehand about what you’re curious about, what you would like to explore, and what you want to avoid, then shape the session together

Can I book a session as a complete beginner?

5

Absolutely. Beginner sessions are welcome and can be a gentle introduction to rope, whether you want to learn about tying or simply experience being in rope.

What happens during a session?

6

Every session begins with communication and consent. We discuss your experience, intentions, boundaries, and anything I should know before we begin. From there, we build the session together, checking in throughout and leaving space to adjust or stop whenever needed..

Is Shibari painful?

7

Rope can create pressure, intensity, and strong physical sensations, but pain is never something you simply have to tolerate. We communicate throughout the session and adjust the rope, position, or intensity according to your boundaries and body.

What does consent look like during a rope session?

8

Consent is an ongoing conversation, not a one-time question. You can change your mind, ask for an adjustment, or stop at any moment. I will also communicate with you throughout the session so that we can make informed decisions together.

Is a rope session sexual?

9

Rope can be sensual, intimate, or erotic, but it does not have to be sexual, and in this context isn't. The boundaries and intention of each session are discussed beforehand. My practice is centered on connection, embodiment, trust, and exploration rather than assuming what intimacy should look like.

Do you offer sessions for couples or partners?

10

Yes. Rope can be a beautiful way for partners to explore communication, trust, intimacy, and play together. Sessions can be adapted to your experience and relationship dynamic.

Can I come alone?

11

Yes. You do not need a partner to explore rope. We can discuss what kind of experience you are looking for and whether a session with me is the right fit.

Do I need to be flexible?

12

No. You don’t need to be flexible, experienced, strong, or conventionally “good” at anything. Rope can be adapted to different bodies, abilities, and comfort levels.

What should I wear?

13

Wear something you feel comfortable moving and breathing in. Depending on the session, you may want clothing that allows access to areas where the rope will be placed. We can discuss this beforehand. Minimum required is underwear.

How long is a session?

14

Session length depends on what we are doing and what you book. (Between 1.5 and 3 hrs) I will provide the duration and details when we arrange your session.

Where do sessions take place?

15

Sessions take place in a private, agreed-upon space. The location and practical details are discussed when booking. I have a studio in Amsterdam
